PLANE Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Basic Education Reforms in Kaduna

By Uangbaoje Alex, Kaduna

In a continued push to reform and strengthen the basic education system in Kaduna State, the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) has reiterated its support to the Kaduna Basic Education and Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM).

This was made known during a follow-up meeting convened to finalize the implementation of previously identified action points and enhance the capacity of the Mechanism.

Speaking at the meeting, Ahmed Baba Jibril, Reform Facilitator at PLANE Kaduna Office, reaffirmed PLANE’s commitment to promoting education governance and accountability across the state.

“PLANE has been working closely with KADBEAM in strengthening its institutional capacity and improving accountability in the education sector.

“In line with this commitment, we supported the development of a Five-Year Strategic Plan that lays out a clear roadmap for systemic improvements in basic education across Kaduna State,” he said.

According to him, PLANE also facilitated a functionality assessment for KADBEAM, which identified gaps hindering the Mechanism’s effectiveness.

In response, an action plan was developed, and the ongoing engagements are aimed at ensuring the full implementation of the strategic priorities.

“We hope today’s meeting will provide KADBEAM members with the platform to discuss challenges preventing the Mechanism from fulfilling its mandate.

“It is our hope that the resolutions reached here will be translated into concrete actions,” Jibril added.

In a show of appreciation, KADBEAM Co-chair Ahmed Aliyu commended PLANE for its unwavering support and guidance.

“Today, I want to commend PLANE for its consistent efforts toward driving education reform in Kaduna State.

“One of the challenges we’ve faced in the education sector is a lack of momentum. But with PLANE’s support, we are seeing renewed energy and purpose,” he said.

Aliyu assured stakeholders of KADBEAM’s commitment to fully participate in the reform process.

According to him, “We are ready to take action and ride the wave of this reform to ensure better outcomes for our children.”

The meeting marks another milestone in the partnership between PLANE and KADBEAM, as both entities work towards transforming the basic education landscape in Kaduna State.
