Ondo state government has promoted no fewer than 2,500 teaching and non-teaching staff of the state’s Teaching Commission (TESCOM) and has also directed recruitment of additional 1,050 teachers.

Speaking at the stakeholders meeting in Akure, the governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, said his administration would do everything within its power to encourage teachers, as it would enable them to perform optimally.

He said the promotion exercise is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of the workers in the state.

He added that promotion is an employee’s reward for good performance, urging the beneficiaries to note that promotion is the recognition of their good deeds.

He said, “As we all know, education is the holistic training of the child to fully integrate him as a social being in the community. Hence, in every human society, the education industry takes the greatest investment of all and this has remained the guiding principle of my administration.”

He said the event was important because “it was meant to appreciate our men and women, who have continued to render selfless services and completely dedicated themselves to the upliftment of education in the state.”

He urged workers to reciprocate government’s gesture by ensuring that they put in their best in the discharge of their duties.
He further assured that his administration would continue to accord priority to workers welfare and ensure that teachers are well trained and rewarded.
