Obaseki, Inaugurates 11-man Transition Committee, Charges them to Submit Report in Four Weeks
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, inaugurated an eleven-man transition committee with a mandate to members to submit their transition report within four weeks.
Obaseki inaugurated Mr. Anthony Okungbowa as the chairman of the transition committee as well as other members, at Government House, Benin City.
Mrs. Debbie Enakhimion serves as Secretary of the committee, while Mr. Henry Tenebe, Mr. John Yakubu, Mrs. Gladys Idahor, Mr. Isaac Ehiozuwa, Mr. Henry Idogun, Dr. Patience Isokpekhei, Mr. Victor Ebomwonyi, Mrs. B.O Okodugha and Mr. Pascal Ugbome are members.
According to the governor, “It is a tradition that at the end of every administration, you set up a plan to transit into the next administration even if it’s the same person that is still in government.
“That is why we have put together a very distinguished team of experienced public servants and politicians to help us look at what has happened in the last four years and ensure that we have properly documented all the things that occurred.
“Let’s look at the various policies and issues that we had to deal with within the first four years. What I want to also bring to your knowledge is that there have been several initiatives which we have undertaken in the last four years.
“Documentation is key, so one of the many areas I would like this committee to focus more on is documentation.”
Obaseki added that, “The work of your committee will be digitalised for future administration to refer to, hence, I want you to make a link between the activities and programmes we have undertaken in the last four years and see how they can be connected with the assurances and promises we made during our electioneering campaign.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Anthony Okungbowa, thanked the governor for deeming him and other members of the committee fit for the task, assuring that they would do their best to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them.
He said: “Let me very quickly acknowledge the tremendous support you received during the campaign that resulted in your overwhelming victory in the September 19 gubernatorial election.
“We also recognise the excellent work that you delivered to the people that resulted in that trust and confidence. As a transition committee, our responsibility is to ensure that you have a smooth take-off of your second term in office.”
