NYG: Kaduna Wins Back-To-Back In Cricket, Akwa Ibom Took That Of Females

The Kaduna State make cricket team yesterday demonstrated their superiority and defended their title in the U-17 ongoing 3rd edition of the National Youth Games holding in Illorin Kwara State by winning the gold medal in the finals played against Edo State. 

In the first game against Imo State,  Kaduna defeated them by a total of 131 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 15 overs defeating their opponent under 63 runs all out. 

In their second game against their FCT rival who scored 69 runs all out their overs was defeated by Kaduna team who scored 70 runs in 6 overs to  qualify for the semi finals after winning by 10 wickets. 

In the semi finals played against Oyo, the oyo was unsuccessful in their efforts to Pull out Kaduna as the team forcified their team and scored 121 runs in 15 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Kaduna got Oyo all out in 8 overs scoring a total of 48 runs. Kaduna won by 80 runs to sail through to the finals. 

The Arewa boys committed and determined to retain the title left no one in doubt as they came out fumming against their south south counterpart Edo state.  In the game, Kaduna scored a  total of 122 runs in 20 overs stopping their opponent under 52 runs to defend their trophy and won the game by 70 runs.  

While Kaduna defended their title being the winner in the second edition of their championship. Edo and Oyo states went home with the silver and bronze medals respectively. 

In the female team,  Akwa Ibom state won the gold medal while Edo and Anambra States won the silver and bronze medals respectively. 

At the end of the competition,  the Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF)  gave trophies and medals to the resprective winners. 

Okpe Ameh from Kaduna State won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the male while Favour Eseigbe from Edo State emerged the MVP for the female. 

Victory Igbinedion from Edo State won the best behaved girl overall while Chidi Anwubuallili from Kaduna won the best behaved for the boys category.
