No Intimidation, Blackmail Can Stop Our Demands – Organised Labour
The Nigeria Labour Congress ,NLC and the Trade Union Congress , TUC ,Kaduna State Chapter , says it would continue to demand for the rights of workers’ in the midst of blackmail and intimidation.
A statement signed by the Chairmen of the union , Comrade Adamu Ango of NLC and Comrade Shehu Mohammed of TUC , respectively said no amount of campaign of calumny from any quarters would deter the leadership of the union from demanding for rights and the rights of workers’ in the state.
According to the leadership of the two unions , the demand for workers’ to fill a verification from indicating their choice to belong to a union or not is tantamount to an infringement on their fundamental human rights
The NLC and TUC maintained that union membership is a constitutional issue which is above the jurisdiction of any state government , saying that labour unions would resist any attempt to polarize and create disharmony among its members.
It advise workers in the state to remain resolute and be law-abiding while conducting their duties.
The two leadership also urges the state government to publish the names of those workers that are aiding and abetting the ghost workers in the state and to also make same available to NLC , TUC Kaduna State Councils , for necessary action . Hence , the colossal amount involved of N500,000,000.00 per month is big enough to assist the government in its developmental programmes in the state.
