NIS repatriates 2005 irregular immigrants in Taraba

The Taraba State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has disclosed that the command has repatriated two thousand and five (2,005) irregular immigrants.

The state Comtroller of NIS, Alhaji Habibu Adamu Haruna who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during the review of 2015 activities of the command said it has also established nine new patrol bases to checkmate the movement of irregular immigrant who may have come into the country through illegal route.

“We established the nine patrol bases in Jimlari, Mutun Biyu, Bali, Takum, Baissa, Takum-Katsinala, Takum -Mubi Toso, Takum Kashinbila and Nguroji, and is aimed at checking the movement of irregular immigrant” Haruna said.

He noted that one thousand three hundred and seventy three (1,373) irregular immigrants were arrested from different locations within the state during three major raids.

Haruna further stated that six hundred and thirty two (632) illegal immigrants were also intercepted by the border corps personals from various patrol bases.

According to him, forty voters cards and sixteen national identity cards were equally impounded from non Nigerians.

He added that the command had refused thirty one different nationals into the country, saying in order to eased movement of citizen in the state, the command on 30th January, 2015 joined other states in issuing, sixty four page passport to frequent travelers.

He called on the general public to always assist immigration with useful information that would led to possible arrest of irregular immigrant.
