Nigerian Breweries Hosts Kaduna Golf tournament

As part of measures to deliver its corporate social responsibilities to the society, the Nigerian
Breweries last week hosted the 52nd Edition of the Kaduna golf tournament‎.‎

‎Speaking at the event, Mr Adebolu Obawole‎. Manager, Nigerian Breweries Plc, ‎Kaduna,  said the brewery will continue to maintain‎
the long friendship and partnership it had with the Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim
Golf Club and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, as part
of its corporate social responsibility to its neighboring communities.

He said the company, which produce about 58 products in its 11 brewery
locations across the country including two in Kaduna, had in its 51 ‎years of existence gave back to the society in the areas of education,
health, water supply, agriculture and sports among others.

“In spite of all the socio-economic challenges we have continued to
put in our very best to steer the company to great operational
excellence. Through our corporate social responsibility platform, we
keep close touch with key stakeholders like you. Our corporate social
responsibility agenda is designed to positively impact our society and
touch various aspects of our community life giving back to the
society.

“Sports remain a story unifying force the world over and by our ‎sponsorship of golfing events we have enjoyed friendship, and the
spirit of togetherness associated with it.” he emphasized.‎

Captain of the Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim Golf Club, Brig. Gen. Ola Soleye
expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Breweries Plc for sponsoring the
tournament while requesting the company to look into supporting the
work aimed at improving the facilities at the club.‎‎

‎At the of the competition, Audu Dahiru of Zaria Golf club on Sunday
scored the best gross of 153 to win the 2015 Jaji/Heineken Open Golf
Tournament, as Zaria golf club swept most of the honors at the 32nd
edition of the annual tournament. He also won the nearest to the pin ‎honour.‎

Abubakar Mamman of Wuyep Lakeside golf club scored gross of 154 to
emerge as the runners-up gross, while Ahmed Abdullahi of Zaria golf
club scored 155 to win the second runners-up gross, he also won the
longest drive award. Group Captain USA Sadiq of Zaria golf club scored
141 to emerge as the best net beating Nura Yau of same Zaria golf club
who scored 147 nett to placed second in that category.

Amina Wilfred of IBB golf club Abuja hit 168 gross to win the female
category beating Racheal Danjuma of the host Jaji golf club, who
scored 179 gross to place second. Dorcas Daniel of Zaria golf club won
the best nett with 149 net beating club mate Justina Gideon with 150
net to second position. Elizabeth Samuel of host Jaji golf club won
the ladies longest drive.

Joel Joseph of NDA golf club scored 170 to win best gross in category
II (handicap 10 – 18) beating Zaria golf club’s Yusuf Shehu on count
back. Abubakar Mz of Zaria golf club won the best net of the category
with 144 beating NDA’s Phillip Henry on count back.

The veterans’ category was won by Rabiu Garba who plays out of Zaria
golf club who scored 160 gross to beat club mate Adamu Yusuf who
scored 172 gross. Yaro Shehu of Zaria golf club scored 155 to emerge
the best nett beating Chief Frank Onotu of Kaduna golf club who scored
157 net.
