NGOs trains 500 women and youths on skills acquisition

A coalition of 525 civil society groups, known as Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Kaduna (KADACSO’S), is set to train 500 women and youths in the state on skills acquisition programme,   come November 14, 2016.

Chairman of KADACSO’S, Comrade Zubairu Mukhtar, said while briefing the media in Kaduna.

Comrade Zubairu Mukhtar said the coming together of 525 civil Society organizations was inspired and motivated by the unfolding impact made by the APC led administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking further, Comrade Mukhtar said in less than two years of coming to power Governor El-Rufai has recorded many feats in the developmental arena.

“It is in recognition of the government’s achievements and good intention that the coalition of civil society organizations, unanimously decided to key into the progressive agenda of the government.

“We intend to mobilize our resources and structures to assist and compliment what is being done.  Accordingly we have resolved to immediately embark on the following:

“Monitor and track government projects and provide quarterly scorecards on key projects. We will train and work with our network of community based associations in this respect. We are starting this right away with the hope of coming up with an end of year scorecard by December, this year

“Increase awareness and participation of citizens in governance through face to face community dialogues. We shall encourage citizens of Kaduna state to make their voices be heard on issues that concern them as well as contribute to development efforts in their respective communities.

“Contribute to job and income generation for youth and women through skills trainings and linkages to funding. Right now we have concluded arrangements to partner with one of our member organizations, Privilege Foundation in training 500 women and youth in tailorings/design, leather works (shoe and bag making), carpentry and welding, among others. This training will start on the 14th November, 2016.

“Organize special events that will promote citizen’s patriotism and elicit excitement as well as enhance participation in governance.”
