NB, Kaduna Senators Partner on Rural Transformation

Senators from the three Senatorial District have resolved to partner Nigerian Breweries in the area of rural transformation.

Speaking on behalf of the three Senators, Senator Shehu Sani said “We are impressed with the Corporate Social Responsibility, CRS  of the company in building schools, Hospitals and many others. We want to see more of that to transform the lives of our people especially in Education and Health”

On sales of alcohol, the Senators said “Brewery and its distributors
should restrict itself to only places where they are allowed to sell”.

Senators Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central, Danjuma La’ah of Kaduna South and Suleiman Hunkuyi of Kaduna North commended the Company for its loadable programmes in Corporate Social Responsibilities stressing
that the schools, clinics, water projects and many others impacts on the lives of the common man and they have resolved to key into these
to transform the rural folks.

Earlier the Corporate Affairs Adviser to Nigerian Breweries Mr.Kufre Ekanem said ,‘’Our company supports over 279,000 jobs directly and indirectly with about 97,000 of them in the Sorghum value chain.

“Since 2007, we have invested over 700m Euros in the economy”

According to Ekannem ‘We have invested consistently in the area of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform (as shown in the
Brewery Manager’s presentation), and I would like to emphasize on some key ones we have done in recent times:

“Kaduna South: Through our Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, we built, renovated, furnished classroom blocks, fully stocked libraries,
toilets, staff rooms in Artillery Primary School, Kakuri; GSS Kudenda and Makera; LEA Babandodo, Makera and lots more.

“Under our Health intervention platform, Heineken Africa Foundation (HAF), we built a N50m CT scan center in St. Gerards’ Hospital and a VVF ward at the Hajia Gambo Sawaba Hospital in Zaria.

“In our water intervention activities, we have provided solar powered boreholes in Barnawa and Kudenda/Trikania”

“Kaduna North: We have also supported the nation’s food security focus by providing
improved sorghum yields through heavy investment in research and
development.

“We want to thank the State Government for repairing the Makera road, which we had planned to rehabilitate and subsequently channeled the budget at the Makera Health Center – providing a new ward, delivery couch and basic medical consumables”.

He however, hailed the conducive environment provided by Kaduna State Government for business to strive stressing that the company will
continue to support the State via its CSR for positive transformation.
