National Youth Games: Team Kaduna Set for Harvest Of Gold Medals

The Kaduna state Commissioner for Youths, Sports and culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta on Wednesday said team Kaduna is going to the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state ffuly prepared to harvest gold medals.
The commissioner who stated this while speaking with sport writers in his office on the level of preparations for the youth games said that preparations were on top gear and that the athletes had grouped at various camps ahead of the games.
He said he was confident that the athletes will win five gold medals from five different games due to their present formidable representation in the country.
“We are fully prepared to participate and make our impact in the competitions as we will be participating in almost all the events that are available for contest.
“I am confident that 5 out of the 12 events we are participating are already winning teams and are awaiting gold medals to pick.
“This is because currently our female hockey team (El-rufai babes) are the current champions representing the country in continental championship and I see them doing same in Ilorin.
“We also have karate; Kick-boxing who are all gold medallist in the current national tournament and sub regional that took place this year.
“The cycling team one of the top 3 in the country today with Kaduna cyclers playing majority, out of the 21 that represented Nigeria. At the Rio olympics, 7 of them are from Kaduna.
“Taikwando team from Kaduna are champions in the country and contenders at the continental level, so I see them as gold medalist.”
Danauta further stated that the participants would be engaged in different encounters in order to keep them in shape for the tournament.
According to him, such engagements had become necessary in order to improve on their performance for the competition.
