Lassa Fever: FG launches National Call Centre
In an effort to nip in the bud cases of Lassa Fever and other public health emergencies, the Federal Government has launched a National Call Centre.
The Call Centre will be domiciled at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
While launching the Centre in Abuja, yesterday, the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, explained that the introduction of the Centre is a demonstration of the determination of the President Buhari-led
government to provide easy access to health care services and information to all Nigerians.
He, however, advised Nigerians to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the Centre to assist the government in its determination to prevent communicable diseases, especially the current Lassa fever outbreak.
Adewole therefore, called on citizens who have symptoms of Lassa Fever to call any of the ten (10) numbers 097000010 to 19 from anywhere in the country and such will be directed to the appropriate state Epidemiologist or refer them to the nearest health facility.
In a statement by the Director, Media and Public Relations of the ministry, Boade Akinola (Mrs), the minister promised that: “where possible, patients could be picked-up from their locations and takento the nearest health facility.
He assured that any one that uses the call facility will get prompt response.
