Kaduna Whistleblower Freed on Bail, Vows to Continue Fight Against Corruption

Kaduna-based activist and human rights advocate, Comrade Daniel Ejembi, has been released on bail following his arrest over allegations of inciting disturbance and defamation.
His arrest came after he exposed what he described as the illegal acquisition and development of land belonging to Kaduna Polytechnic’s Television Campus.

Speaking after his release, Ejembi thanked friends, family, colleagues, and well-wishers for their solidarity during his detention, as well as media outlets like Sahara Reporters for amplifying his story.
He also acknowledged the Nigerian Police for respecting the law by not detaining him beyond 48 hours.
While many have praised his courage, others have urged him to abandon activism due to the risks involved. But Ejembi insists that silence is far more dangerous than speaking out.
“We cannot accept that a few people take what belongs to millions while the rest of us suffer in silence.
“If we do nothing, we will hand over a country where corruption and criminality are normalized, and where our children are taught to cheat and suffer rather than build and prosper,” he said.
The activist, who leads the Eagle’s Brain Human Rights Organization, declared that he remains committed to pushing for accountability and justice, even at personal risk.
“One thing I am sure of is that I may return to custody again. But it will not be for a crime I am guilty of—it will be for the liberation of our people, a cause I cannot abandon,” he added.
Ejembi called on Nigerians to unite in demanding transparency in public institutions and to resist the structures of corruption that undermine the nation’s future.
