Kaduna PDP Guber Candidate, Ashiru pledges to subsidize education if elected

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate in the upcoming 2023 election in Kaduna State, Hon. Isah Ashiru, has said he will subsidize the cost of education in the state of elected governor in 2023.

He, stated this on Wednesday at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), during a Media Parley, organized by the Council.

Ashiru, who used the opportunity to unveiled his 5-point agenda for the State, noted that because of the continued increase in school fees, especially for tertiary institutions in, most students are dropping out of school because their parents can no longer afford to cost.

According to him, “the issue of education is becoming unbearable. People are finding it hard to pay school fees. How do we reverse this trend?

*Subsidy in education must be retain to get our children back to school. We can not afford to the high cost of education otherwise we will continue to breed book haram”

He said he would place special attention on science and technology in secondary and tertiary institutions while community participation in agriculture will be encouraged.

“Education, science and technology, we had about 24 science secondary schools which has drop to 17 today. How do you encourage science and technology in education.

“We have 23 Business Apprenticeship Training Centres (BATC) in every LGA, but today they are mere buildings.

“I want to assure that we have prototype in Katsina that serves the whole of Katsina state have the ability to produce this artisans. We will ensure that every senatorial zone in this state has one to change the narrative”. Ashiru added.
