Kaduna Launches Campaign to End Violence Against Children 

The Kaduna State Governor,Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday, launched end Violence Against Children (VAC)  campaign vowing that children must be protected for a healthy generation.

Speaking at the launch of the State priority action plan that will address all forms of violence against children in Kaduna, el-Rufai,who represented by his deputy,Arch.Bala Yusuf Bantex, said the government will  work on the same page with religious and traditional leaders to address cultural and traditional beliefs affecting children.

The governor maintained that, it is the responsibility of his administration to protect the rights of children, stressing further that perpetrators of violence against them must desist.

El-rufai, explained that government had taken steps to address the decayed schools infrastructures across the state for children to acquire free and compulsory quality education.

He said thousands of primary school teachers who failed primary four recent competency test will go while new competent teachers would be employed to offer services.

“It is our responsibility to protect the future of our children. Only recently,the state government conducted test for teachers who are teaching our children and we discovered that more than half of primary school teachers failed the primary four examination. We are also working on the decayed primary schools inherited. Constructions of blocks and rehabilitations going on across the state”

On his part, the deputy country Director of Save the Children,a non governmental organisation,Babatunde Ojei,while commending Kaduna State government for the launch said it will be a catalyst to usher in the secure future of  Kaduna children.
