By ALEX UANGBAOJE, Kaduna
Kaduna State Government said, the 71,000 square metres Tipper Park in Maraba Jos, along Kaduna/Zaria road is expected to be completed in the next months.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Murtala Dabo disclosed this while speaking newsmen who are on tour of government projects in the State.
According to him, the N2.7 billion project is aimed at reducing congestion of heavy duty vehicles who normally park along the road in the area.
He explained that the project is a Public Private Partnership that saw government and the investor contributing 50% each.
“Becuase government does not have all the funds to meet all the projects needed in the state, she decided to enter into an agreement with the investor to develop the park.
“As you can see, the flooring of the parking space is a Rigid Pavement, which cover 71,000 square metres, and there are also spaces for Hotels, Fuel Stations, Restaurants and lots more.” He added.
Murtala, who also took newsmen to the N1.499bn new Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) site, said the project when completed will be equipped with modern state-of-the-art facilities, a first of its kind in Nigeria.
Also addressing the media team, Managing Director of KSMC, Ibrahim Ismaila Ahmed, said, “this is a multi billion Naira building, which is part of Governor el-Rufai’s vision of making Kaduna great again.
“What you are seeing is not in existence anywhere in Nigeria. On completion, you should expect a world class KSMC.”
He explained that Governor el-Rufai is not just putting up the two-storey new complex, but by encouraging the recruitment of young fire brand staff that would put the corporation at par with other top broadcast outfits the world over.
Ahmed said, even though they have an existing building that has lasted for 50 years, the new building is also expected to be a legacy project that would serve the people of Kaduna and the world for another 50 years.
