Justice A.H Suleiman, presiding over the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Kaduna State, has upheld the election of Uba Sani, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone and also dismissed the petition filed by Lawal Adamu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for lack of evidences.

Mr. Lawal, who lost to Uba Sani, in the February 23, senatorial election, had filed a petition at the tribunal, challenging Uba Sani, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging massive rigging and ballot stuffing amongst others during the poll.

But in the ruling on Saturday, by a three man panel lead by Justice Suleiman, held that Mr. Lawal and the PDP failed to prove all their evidences before the tribunal, thereby dismissing them and upholding the election of Uba Sani.

In his reaction, Chairman of the PDP in the state, Hassan Hyet, who expressed displeasure over the ruling, however said the party will have to consult with their legal team to know their next line of action.

“There were so many issues, what is of concern to us as party is that the government of APC has succeeded in ridiculing the security organizations and INEC, the security agencies are under oath to be fair and just, whether the evidences were proven or not, everybody knows that the elections were widely rigged. He added.

On his part, Counsel to the APC, Frank Ikpe, noted that judgement was wonderful, adding ” the tribunal went indepth to analyse all the evidences, all the documents tendered and they came to judgement that Senator Uba Sani was validly elected.”
