JAP Charges Traditional and Religious Leaders on Polio Immunization
Polio Immunization for Children between 0-5 years has commenced in Kaduna State.
A press statement issued by the Coordinator of Kaduna State chapter of the Journalists Initiative on Immunization against Polio (JAP),Lawal Dogara, appealed to Traditional Rulers and Religious Leaders to ensure parents allow their children and wards to be immunized.
“The Traditional Rulers and Religious Leaders should always educate their followers on the importance of allowing their Children to be vaccinated against polio and other child killer diseases” the statement explained.
The statement further explained that the Executive Secretary of State Primary Health Care Agency (SPHCA) Dr Hadiza Balarabe revealed that adequate arrangements have been concluded with a view to ensuring successful conduct of the immunization in the state.
The statement noted that the fight against wild polio virus in Nigeria is not over; therefore all stakeholders should not relent their effort so that gains already achieved would not be lost.
The statement commended world Health Organization, UNICEF, the state Government and all stakeholders for their efforts toward the total eradication of Polio not only in Kaduna State alone but the country as a whole.
The statement then appealed to the ad-hoc staff engaged for the conduct of Polio vaccination to be dedicated and committed in the discharged of their responsibilities during the period of the exercise to enable the state reach every eligible child stressing that no child should be missed for whatever reason.
