INEC To Commence Distribution Of PVCs Tomorrow in Edo
The Edo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday that it would commence the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to registered voters ahead of the September 10 gubernatorial election in Edo on September 3.
Priscillia Sule, the commission’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Benin on Thursday, said the exercise would be for three days.
Sule said the period for distribution of the PVCs had been fixed for between September 3 and 5.
She said the exercise would commence at 8:00 a.m. each day in all registered units and wards across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Sule, therefore, advised eligible registered voters, including those who registered during the last continuous voters’ registration (CVR) in June, to ensure that they collected their cards within the stipulated time.
She noted that no eligible registered voter without a PVC would be allowed to vote at the election.
Sule did not, however, disclose the number of PVCs awaiting collection.
The commission on June 7, prior to the CVR, disclosed that about 490,000 PVCs of the 1.2 million registered voters had yet to be collected.
