Hospital Management Seizes Man Allegedly Stabbed by KASTLEA Officer for Not Being Able to Bills

A 25 years old man, Sunday Ibrahim allegedly stabbed by staff of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA), has been detained by management of Saint Gerald Hospital, Kaduna for being unable to settle his outstanding bills which amounted to over N200,000. The mother of the victim, Mrs. Grace Ibrahim disclosed while speaking to journalist in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Mrs. Ibrahim who dashed down to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Kaduna Council, said she was at the Secretariat so that gentlemen of the press can convey the plight of her family to the State Governor and other well-meaning Nigerians for them to intervene.
According to her, her son was discharged from the hospital yesterday morning but they cannot move because they were unable to settle the bills
.
When asked if she has received any help from any quarters, Mrs. Ibrahim said on the day of admission in the hospital, 7Up Bottling Company where her son is a casual worker gave her N30,000, and yesterday sent in another N20,000.
“Apart from this, we have not received any help from anybody. Even though the Police and KASTLEA officials were in the hospital on January 29, 2018 and promised to call back but we never saw them again.
“Yesterday I went to the Kakuri office of KASTLEA where the incident happened and I was informed by the officer-in-charge that my son came into the premises to fight their staff and they are waiting for him to get well before dragging him before a court.
“My question is, even though my son went to fight in KASTLEA’s office is there enough reason for my son to be stabbed by their staff? He grew annoyed and walked me out of his office and asked me and my son never to set foot on the premises again.
“Now I am left with my fate because as a widow who lost her husband to Boko Haram in Maiduguri which resulted to our moving down to Kaduna. My late husband was a Mobile policeman who brought up all his children in a discipline way.
“The hospital Management said if I could pay a little sum of money they will allow me to go but my son will be in custody of the hospital until the final settlement of the bill. To me this is an injustice because my son is not a criminal but a worker who only went to find out what happened to his colleague at KASTLEA’s office.
“As I am talking to you now, I don’t know what to do and that is why I am begging the media to convey my pains to relevant authorities,” she said.
Mrs. Ibrahim who could not hold back tears open her purse to show that she doesn’t have a dime in it and she has not eaten anything since yesterday night. This arose the sympathy of some journalists who were able to raise little money for her to eat
and go back to Saint Gerald hospital.
