Traders at the Kasuwar Bici market whose goods and stalls were destroyed saw rays of hope and rejoice as Senate Committee Chairman on Foreign and Domestic Debts, Senator Shehu Sani on Friday donated building materials worth hundreds of thousands to them following the inferno that razed part of the market recently.
Part of the market was razed down by fire on January 17, 2016, leaving more than 20 stranded with no place to sell their wares.
Items donated by the lawmaker includes 50 bags of cement, 20 roofing sheets, logs of woods and a hundred thousand naira cash as relief materials among others.
The Senator, who represents, Kaduna Central, said he was deeply concerned about the need for the traders to rebuild their stalls and resumed trading immediately.
According to the lawmaker, leadership is about representation and providing necessary support to those people who queued to them into office to represent them.
While urging the traders to use the donated building materials for the purpose they were given, he promised to make himself available any time they want to see him.
Represented by Aminu Bello Aminci, Senator Sani assured the traders of quality representation in the senate. Adding, “The APC government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is working round the clock to return Nigeria to the right track and we as lawmakers will do everything possible within the law to support him.”
Some of the beneficiaries expressed joy and their gratitude to the Senator for his kind gesture and prayed God to continue to strengthen him as he carries out his people oriented programmes in the state, adding “he has restored our joy”.
