The party will hold it state congresses on Tuesday 10 May, 2016, but Hyat has been endorsed by other seven aspirants vying for the position of the chairman of the PDP in Kaduna State.

In a consensus document signed by Hon Ben Bako on 8 May 2016, the seven aspirant said they recognize that the position of he Chairman can only be occupied by one person, that the interest of the party is Supreme and supersede their individual interest and that the Party currently requires a strong experienced, exposed and focused leader that will not only command respect but ensure unity among Party members.

“Therefore, after several meetings and discussions with the two aspirants from Kachia Local Government and upon careful consideration of several factors, especially the need to provide a stable, reliable and credible leadership for the Party, in the face of current challenges, the other of aspirants in attendance unanimously adopted Hon. Hassan Felix Hyat as the Consensus Chairmanship candidate of the PDP in Kaduna State,” the document obtained by Elanza News stated.

Consequently the zone 3 caucus of the party encouraged members of the party to indicate interest in the said position and there was an unprecedented participation by 10 persons eminently qualified.

“The party recognised and welcomed the show of  interest and initiated meetings and process of amicable consensus resolutions of the varied interests. At its meeting of Wednesday, 4th May 2016, after due consultation and meetings with major stakeholders in the party, the zonal caucus of the party in the interest of peaceful conduct of the state congress, reduction of acrimony and unnecessary expenses/tension unanimously conceded the position of the Chairman to Kachia Local Government.
