Group Warns Ngige over Anambra APC primary …Urges Him to Congratulate Andy Ubah
Progressive Youth Network, a political pressure group in Anambra State, has told Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige to congratulate the winner of the just concluded APC primary in the state, Dr. Andy Uba or remain silence.
In a statement issued to newsmen, the Publicity Secretary of the Network, Ekene Chukwuma, said the Network viewed with grave concern the alleged anti-party activities of Ngige since the emergence of Dr. Uba as the party’s flagbearer.
Mr. Chukwuma said they are at a loss as to why Ngige is calling for the cancellation of an election in which he was not even a contestant.
“The sustained campaign by Dr. Chris Ngige to torpedo the candidacy of the Dr. Andy Uba will be resisted by the youths of Anambra State. We viewed with grave concern his machination to thwart a primary election in which he was not even a contestant. We therefore strongly advise him to desist from fishing in troubled waters,” he said.
Mr. Chukwuma said as far as they are concerned, Ngige is a just rabble-rouser who had no real political influence in Anambra State, rather, he said, Ngige seeks to drop names and hoist his crony as the candidate of the party for self-aggrandizement.
“Recall that with all the noise Ngige is making now moving from pillar to post, he could only deliver 33,298 votes for President Buhari in 2019 as against 524,738 votes scored by the PDP Presidential Candidate.
“He is just a trouble maker who would want to pull down the roof simply because he cannot withstand the influence of Andy Uba in Anambra State. He has now launched a campaign calling for the cancellation of the election but we are all witnesses to the fact that the primary election indeed held peacefully and transparently and Andy Uba was returned as the elected candidate.
“We appeal to INEC and the APC National Working Committee to disregard Ngige tantrums and focus more on strategizing on how to takeover Anambra State from APGA,” he said.
He also called on the NWC of the APC to provide all the necessary support for Andy Uba to uproot the APGA regime in Anambra as he has all it takes to deliver on the job.
“As we await the mother of all campaigns in Anambra, we appeal to the APC National Working Committee to provide all the needed support for Andy Uba because he is the man to beat in the forthcoming governorship election,” he added.
