Foundation Donates Free Trees to Schools, Train Students, Staff on Trees Planting

In an effort to encourage afforestation in the society, a non-governmental organization, Franka Abuzi Youth Foundation, has donated free trees for planting to two schools in Zaria city of Kaduna State.
This is part of the foundation’s project ‘Trees Planting’ which took place at Al-amin Sparkling School Gwargwaji, over the week. The students were educated and sensitized on the importance of trees planting in the environment.
In her remarks, the convener and Executive Director of the foundation, Franka Abuzi, noted that the trees planting project which is part of the activities earmarked for her 23rd birthday celebration is aimed at educating the public on the dangers of deforestation and its effect on the environment.
The NGO donated some trees and flowers to the school, as well as planted those plants with the students. 15 learners were selected to participate in the exercise from Basic 5, SS 1 and SS 2, while five teachers actively participated in the exercise.

Some of the importance of trees planting in the environment according to Miss Abuzi include; reducing erosion, reducing noise pollution, economic benefits, and also they breathe out oxygen which humans breathe in.
“We also donated 5 trees to St Francis College Wusasa Zaria but couldn’t plant with them due to the absence of their Environment Officer. Example of trees we donated are: sour soap, coconut and royal palm trees.
“We pray these trees grow to be beneficial to those around. And to all those who contributed to the success of this project, we say a big thank you for giving life to the society”, Miss Abuzi prayed.
Narrating the operations of the foundation, the Convener said “We’ve carried out sensitization and enlightenment programs involving the youths such as skills acquisition programs, book reading culture cultivation etc”.

They however, called on the government at all levels to encourage recycling, proper town planning, and create public awareness in schools, market places, among others in order to avert the negative impact of certain actions in the environment.
Some of the trees they donated are; soar soap, coconut and royal palm trees.
Also speaking during the exercise, the Deputy State Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), DCN Malo Elisha Bitrus, commended the organization’s effort for organizing such an impactful programme.
DCN Bitrus, who also participated in the exercise appraised Miss Abuzi for celebrating her birthday in such a great way by donating the tree plants and also educating the young ones on its importance.

While cautioning the students on the dangers of hard drugs and other social vices, he encouraged the them to engage in works and activities with positive impact.
Franka Abuzi Youth Foundation is a youth based Non Governmental Organization that enlighten, sensitize and educate youths.
