Feb polls: Group Tasks PDP, APC, on Peaceful Campaign

In view of the brewing political tension between All Progressives Congress , (APC) and People’s Democratic Party , (PDP) at Kafanchan area in Southern Kaduna of Kaduna state, the Leadership of Jamaa Foundation has called on leaders of the two major political parties to shun campaign of bitterness and calumny.

In a Statement signed by the National Secretary of the Foundation , Mallam Abdullahi Yahaya Lifidin Jamaa, made an appeal for politicians to ensure that campaigns are issue based .

The group also charged the members of the APC and PDP on need to embrace peace and embark on a focused campaign without breaching public peace .

While stressing the need for all party supporters at all levels to ensure that campaigns are tailored towards freedom of expression, they kicked against a situation where ,violence or force is used to express support of political parties or candidates .

They charge the electorates to give consideration to candidates that can be trusted with leadership positions and who can improve their lives and facilitate development.

“Electorate must be allowed to choose the candidates of their choice without intimidation of any kind during and after the elections”. They emphasised.

The group however, laments the way and manner politicians from the two parties are unnecessarily over heating the polity . Adding that “elections will come and go, but the citizens will remain as brothers and neighbours.”

They commended the Area commandant of Police and his team for maintaining peace in the area and promise to cooperate with the police in ensuring peaceful coexistence in the area. They equally met with and donated materials to the Vigilante Service in the area and requested for their optimal contribution towards ensuring peace and harmony in Jamaa local Government and the state at large.
