Today publishing company limited, the Publisher of The defunct Union newspapers has filed a application in kaduna High Court sitting in kaduna to recall Mallam Nasir el-Rufai for further cross examination on the assets declaration suit pending before the court between the Governor and the newspaper company.
The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB on Thursday, during continuation of defence, tendered before the Kaduna High court 2, an Assets Declaration Forms and Blank Form of Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai when he was Minister of Federal Capital Territory, and Director General, Bureau of public Enterprises, BPE, respectively.
Counsel to the The Union newspaper, represented by Barr. Hilfan Andrew Abuul told journalists in an interview that CCB tendered valid and original assets declaration forms 1 of el-Rufai before the court on Thursday after several delay and sittings due to bureaucracy.
Barr. Abuul said he had made an application to the court seeking leave to recall governor El-Rufai’s for further cross examination on the assets declaration forms upon which CCB was earlier subpoenaed.
The counsel to the defendant AU Mustapha, SAN, did not object the submission of the forms before the court, he however opposed the motion seeking to recall el-Rufai for further cross examination, having testified previously.
After the submissions, the court judge Justice Mario Mohammed adjourned the matter 4 July, for the motions.
“What transpired in court today was that we supheoned CCB to produce certain documents in court, which include assets declaration of Mallam Nasir elrufai, when he was DG BPE, at the beginning of his tenure and after he left office, and when he was minister of federal capital territory, FCT, at the beginning of his tenure and after he left office. And also a blank form, the original form of Form CCB 1. It takes time because they were unable the forms in the previous proceedings due bureaucratic issues. Thank God today they were able to bring them and before the court now”, he stated.
Barr Abuul who appeared with M. H. Palegeh also stated that “The basic thing now is that, may be I’ve to apply in court to get certified copies, understudy them and know my next line of action.
