A Kaduna-based legal practitioner, Maxwell Kyon, has dragged Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, before a Kaduna magistrate court 4, over free school feeding programme.
The Governor has earlier this year announced free feeding in state owned primary and secondary schools, aimed at increasing enrollment and improving nutritional intake of the students.
Kyon, who is the plaintiff in this case argued, that the initiative is unconstitutional and there was no need for the governor to feed school children in the state.
But, Defence counsels, Director of Litigation, State ministry of Justice, Sanusi Usman and his deputy, Daniel Isah, who led the legal team for the defendant, said the plaintiff has no grounds to challenge the free public schools feeding programme of initiated by the governor.
However, the presiding judge of State Magistrate Court 4, Chief Magistrate Mairo Muhammed, adjourned the case to 17th march, 2016 for the preliminary objection.
