Education: Take Advantage of AI Innovations – Stakeholders urge the public

Stakeholders in the education sector in Kaduna State has stressed the need for the public to take advantage of the innovations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their day to activities, especially the education sector.
This was part of the submission made on Monday during a panel discussion at the stakeholders and children engagement on AI integration in education to commemorate the International Day of Education held at the Model Smart School in Kinkinau, Kaduna South LGA.
The event was organized by the State Ministry of Education, supported by Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE), Reaching Out of School Children (ROOSC) Project, UNICEF, Save the Children, amongst other partners.

They emphasized that the use of AI will not only contributes to the growth of human capital, it will also create opportunities for both students and teachers to enhance their skills and expand their knowledge in various fields.
The panelists called on the Kaduna State government priorities investment in information technology infrastructure to accelerate advancement of modern educational resources powered by AI.
They also urged the government to put in place facilities that can bridge the gap between persons with disabilities, their teachers and their parents and ward.
The model smart school which is the first in the state, showcases the successful integration of AI-powered learning tools, digital classrooms, and e-learning platforms, which highlights the state’s commitment to revolutionising education.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director Planning, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Salisu Lawal, reminded the gathering on the importance of protecting the human agency, creativity and critical thinking while leveraging on the benefits of AI.

Lawal, who was represented by Abbas Shehu, Deputy Director Planning, underscored the transformative power of education and its role in shaping the future of the younger ones.
He also emphasised the need for collaboration to ensure that the education systems prioritise the incorporation of AI.
In separate remarks, some of the students expressed their happiness and readiness to incorporate the use of AI in their learning process.

Highpoints of the event included a questions and answers session, demonstration of robotic materials and simulation of AI.
