The lawmakers in Edo state House of Assembly, on Tuesday, engaged the Speaker, Victor Edoror in a shouting match, ending plenary in a rowdy session.

Trouble started shortly after the embattled Speaker called on the Clerk of the House to read the order of the day when suddenly Patrick Iluobe, member representing Esan North East 1 constituency shouted at the top of his voice that there will be no sitting. Surprisingly, virtually all the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led house backed Iluobe, a member of the PDP.

The Edo House of Assembly eventually ended its plenary in a rowdy session when the Speaker failed to restore normalcy.

Sensing trouble, a loyalist of the Speaker, Mr. Ojo Asein, (APC Owan West) there after moved a motion for the House to adjourn sine die.

Edoror, following the mood of the lawmakers, adjourned plenary for two weeks.

The embattled Speaker, who spoke with newsmen shortly after adjournment said “gentlemen of the press, I was caught unaware.

“We are heading for an executive session to find out their grievances and resolve the crisis. I believe that the issues are resolvable,” Edoror said.
