Economic Development: CODE Engages Kaduna Youths on Budget Processes

Connected Development (CODE) an NGO otherwise known as Follow the Money, with support from Actionaid on Wednesday commenced a 2-day workshop to enlighten youths in Kaduna about the process, plans and implementation of budget by the government.

Declaring the workshop with the theme: “Strengthening Youth Focused Public Service Delivery in Nigeria; Youth Organizing and Leadership (YOL):
open, Zaliha Lawal, CODE Kaduna Chapter Lead, explained that the workshop is aimed at strengthening a youth-focused service delivery in Nigeria.

She said because youths are reluctant to know how budget are processed and implemented, hence the need to organise the workshop aimed at changing the mindset of young Nigerians especially Kaduna State youth.

CODE’s mission is to improve access to information and empower local communities in Africa, Its initiative, Follow The Money, tracks government amd international aid spending in health, environment and education across rural communities to promote and ensure open government and service delivery.

The workshop had in attendance Youths and stakeholders from different organizations including students.

In his remarks, guest speaker at the workshop; a senior lecturer with Kaduna State University Dr. Elisha Auta, emphasised the need for youths to participate in politics and budget appropriation, saying that will help ensure transparency in governance.

During the training, the participants were given a practical work to analyse the plans, gaps and government priorities on budget implementation.

CODE had in August organises similar training workshop.
