Buratai Foundation Hails Nigerian Military for Foiling Terrorist Attacks in Borno

By Uangbaoje Alex, Kaduna

The TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for successfully repelling coordinated terrorist attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori towns in Borno State.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, the Foundation praised the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Chief of Air Staff (CAS), and the troops of Operation Hadin Kai for their swift and decisive response to the attempted assaults in Biu and Abadam Local Government Areas.

Particularly lauded were the troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion stationed in Buratai, whose early response and tactical expertise played a crucial role in thwarting the attack and safeguarding civilians.

According to the Foundation, the terrorists launched the attack on Buratai in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, attempting to infiltrate military positions from multiple directions. Nigerian troops engaged the attackers in heavy gunfire, supported by airstrikes from the Nigerian Air Force, ultimately forcing the insurgents to retreat.

After the confrontation, several terrorists were confirmed dead and a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, machine guns, and rocket-propelled grenades, was recovered from the scene. Military sources say mop-up operations are ongoing to clear any remaining threats in the area.

The Foundation’s Grand Patron, former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s ex-Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd), expressed optimism that the current administration would continue to improve national security.

“I see improved security in the next two years under Tinubu,” he said, describing the military’s recent success as a step forward in the country’s fight against insurgency.

The TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation reaffirmed its support for the military and called on all Nigerians to remain united in efforts to restore peace across the country.

Operation Hadin Kai is the Nigerian military’s flagship counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East, targeting Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters. The recent repulsion of attacks in Buratai and Mallam Fatori adds to a growing list of successful operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement in the region.
