Buhari, Oyegun  Bars Media from APC NEC Meeting

Media Houses covering the All Progressives Congress are barred from covering the party’s National Executive Council Meeting NEC on the alleged order of President Muhammadu Buhari stating security concerns.

According media officers of the party, the coming of Mr. President t the party secretariat would not allow the party to accommodate some media houses for the event.

Aides to the former APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Lanre  revealed that, the party is not going to allow unfriendly journalists access to the venue of the NEC meeting.

He stressed that, the party Assistant Director, Publicity, Mr. Odegbe Odewingie said the National Chairman of the party have been getting bad press in recent times and all media houses  term inimical to the party’s interest would no be allowed in.

Media houses Like, Nigerian Tribune, the Sun Newspapers, New Telegraph, Peoples Daily, Blueprint, Dailytimes are all barred from covering the NEC meeting.

Recently the former Publicity Secretary of the party and now Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed said the APC government would not gag the media.

It would be recalled that, the All Progressives Congress. (APC) enjoyed the support and solidarity of the media in the build up to the General Election in 2015 that saw the party defeating the former ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari in his inaugural speech, acknowledged the huge  support and the role play by the media that saw him and his party rode t victory, with a special mention of the social media.

But now the tile has change with the party now basking in the euphoria of power, the media now has become irritated to the party.
The APC has decided to gag the media through selection of media houses to cover their party activities.
