Breaking! COVID-19: Northern Governors Shutdown Schools for 30 Days

As part of measures to tackle the spread of corona virus, also known as COVID-19, governors of the Northeast geopolitical zone and their neighbors, Kwara and Niger of Nigeria has ordered that all schools in the zone be shot down for 30 days.
The governors also agreed to fund a joint security operation to curb the insecurity ravaging the area.
The Governors disclosed this at a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday at the of their security meeting.
Chairman of the forum and governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, said the measure is to protect their citizens from the likely spread of the virus in the zone.
News of a suspected case of corona virus, broke early on Wednesday morning when the Permanent Secretary at the Health Ministry of Katsina State announced that they are currently investigating the case.
According to Masari, “the governors also agreed joint measures to protect citizens from likely impact of COVID-19; this include, schools closure. Measures are being taken by each of the states in consultation with the national examination bodies in the period of 30 days starting from Monday 23rd March 2020.
“Sensitization campaigns to discourage large gathering until further notice. Public health awareness campaigns; state will continue to wage aggressive campaigns to encourage personal hygiene and water sanitation”.
