AVolleyball: No More Selection Of Players By Proxy, Nimrod Warns

There would be no more selection of national players to represent Nigeria internationally in volleyball competitions, as all must be selected by the technical committee of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) at open trials.

President of NVBF, Engineer Musa Nimrod disclosed this when fielding questions from newsmen at the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, where players are converging for male U-17 and senior female team trials.

“There will be no more selection of players by proxy. We will not allow such,” he warned.

He said gone were the days when players felt that because they were the best, they would remain at home and expect to be called up to represent the country,” he stressed.

He commended all the states and military/paramilitary agencies for the acceptance and understanding of our Technical Committee towards the organization of the trial competition.

“It is our believe that new players will be seen and injected with the experienced ones. I appeal for your understanding and God to give us the success and victory. At this emergency stage we all need to remain focused and steadfast.

“No success comes without challenges. Immediately after the trial competition, the players that will be selected will move into camp in Abuja next week. We pray for success of the trials, camp and the two qualifications in Abidjan and Niamey.

“Once again if you are a golden player and willing to serve your nation now is the time,” he said.

Nimrod said that by Wednesday, they are expecting no fewer than 100 players to feature in the trials, adding that there would be trophies presented at the end of the trials.
