Arewa Online Publishers Association Congratulate Nigerians @ 59th Independence …..looks forward to robust policies

As Nigeria celebrate her 59th independence, the Arewa Online Publishers Association (AOPA) has congratulated Nigerians, as the association formally present itself to the public for the first time, expressing hope of a better tomorrow for the Nation.

AOPA, in a statement on Monday, signed by it’s Secretary, Balarabe Junaidu, said the team of online journalists is looking forward for policies and programmes that would be implemented to ensure better livelihood for Nigerians in the future.

According to the statement, “Nigeria’s Independence Day is a joyous occasion not only for the Arewa Online Publishers Association as it debuts, but entire Nigerians for coming thus far as a united citizens regardless of the socio- political challenges besetting the nation.

“So, as we join other Nigerians to celebrate the Day, we would like to remind ourselves that the intellectual prowess and patriotic zeal as well as the love for the country which enabled our forebearers to succeed in their struggle can not be over emphasized.

“It is also gratifying to note that Nigeria’s leaders since then, have made varied contributions to building our nation State, and ensuring that the country remain united despite diverse challenges, which are not un-expected in a multicultural society, such as ours.”

The statement added that, “the pride of any leadership after leaving office is to bequeath to the nation, a long lasting legacy of improved infrastructural facilities and a better economy equitably reflecting the length and breadth of the country.

“On our part, Arewa Online Publishers Association is Committed to development journalism for the socio economic, political, environmental and societal growth as opposed to sadistic muckraking journalism typified by sensationalism and character assassination among others.

“And to achieve broad national goals, we will bring community efforts at improving their living conditions to limelight, douse stalemate among segments of the society and mobilize the populace for political, social and economic Advancement.

“Building peace across the nation divides to steer the path of economic growth and development, would also be focused.”
