APC Suspends Shehu Sani Over Criticism of El-Rufai’s Policies

All Progressive Congress (APC) Kaduna State, has suspended Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani for 11 months over frequent criticism of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s political and economic policies in the state.
The party in the suspension letter, alleged that the anti-party activities of Senator Sani is so pronounced, especially criticizing the Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
“There is hardly a week passes by his Group, will not be on the air in criticizing and challenging the enduring legacies of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The letter partly stated.
But in a swift reaction to the development, the Special Adviser to Senator Shehu Sani on Political matters, Suleiman Ahmed said the suspension was illegal, saying hose behind it are ignorant of the party construction.
Ahmed also alleged that the exco members who signed the suspension letter were acting the scripts of Governor El-Rufai.
The letter of suspension ,which came from the senator’s ward known as the Tudun Wada North ward 6 and signed by one Ahmed Abdulhamid, Auwal Mai Anguwa and Aminu Alilan, Secretary, PRO and Ex-officio respectivelya, stated that the decision was arrived at after a meeting held on 27th December, 2015 which reviewed a subcommittee report on allegations made against the senator.
It further stated that Senator Sani’s statements violates the rules of engagement of the party, which has only succeeded in factionalizing the party in the state.
It also noted that Sani’s statement on National issues is not in conformity with that of the state Governor and Government of Kaduna State.
While stating that the Senator has remained consistently in confrontation with what they believed to be good policies of State government and considering it as anti people’s policy, it said , “In view of the foregoing we have unanimously agreed that Senator Shehu Sani representing ward six should be suspended for the period of 11 months and that henceforth he is disengaged in partaking or attending party activities in Kaduna State subject to other punitive measures respectively.”
He however said the suspension will not stop the Senator from criticizing or challenging Governor El-Rufai’s anti masses policies.
In another reaction Senior Legislative Aide to Shehu Sani, Alhaji Rabiu Khaleed, also said the senator was never invited to any meeting and was never given any opportunity to defend himself so the suspension is invalid.
