APC seals hope of Imasuagbon, Ogienwonyi
There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Appeal Committee for the Edo State governorship primaries may have upheld the result of the June 18 primaries, which saw the emergence of Godwin Obaseki as the party’s candidate for the September 10 governorship election.
Two aspirants, Kenneth Imasuagbon and Chris Ogiemwonyi had challenged the outcome of the primaries, alleging widespread over irregularities, over voting and scientific manipulation of the materials used for the primaries.
It was, however, gathered that the aspirants who were said to have presented overwhelming evidences before the appeals committee were advised to accept the results in good fate, following the intervention of the presidency, who pleaded and warned that party could lose the governorship election in the state if it goes into it with an internal crisis.
The three-member Appeal Committee for the June 18, 2016 Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Primary Election Wednesday submitted its report at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The Election Appeal Committee is chaired by Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, a former member of the House of Representatives. Other members are: Alh Mustapha Salisu and Mrs Ekwy Onyido.
