Anti-party: Kajuru Youths accuses el-Rufai of Endorsing Opposition, while Party’s Candidate in Kidnappers Den
By Habila Victor, Kaduna
Kajuru Local Government Youths for Peace and Development (KALGYPAD), on Friday accused the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai of endorsing an opposition candidate of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, while his party’s candidate is still in captivity.
The All Progressive Congress (APC), candidate, for the State House of Assembly, Dauda Madaki and the Vice Chairman of the party in Kajuru LGA, were kidnapped two weeks ago and kidnappers are already demanding for 50 million naira as ransome.
el-Rufai, on 5th of October, 2022 at the presentation of staff of office to the new Etsu-Chikun, had indirectly endorsed the candidate of the PDP, Yakubu Umar Barde, calling him “a good man for consideration at the forth-coming general elections in 2023”, according to the group.

A communique signed by Nathan Dikko, Secretary of KALGYPAD, said “It is without a doubt that the Governor is not in tune with the current realities in the constituency as evident in the insecurity challenges bedeviling the constituency especially Kajuru where people are taken almost daily in their scores”.
According to them, the Governor has his right to openly endorse any candidate; directly or Indirectly from any political party, nevertheless, the choice of the people will speak at the polls come 2023.
“Rt. Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde has overstayed his time. He is a failed project that has spanned across 20years of mispresentation and the entire people of Kajuru have rejected his bid to return for the Sixth term.
“We unequivocally endorse the Powershift to Kajuru.
“We wish to appreciate the Governor for using this avenue to awaken our conscience and inspiring our unity to mobilize massively in support of the power shift project to ensure Justice, fairness and equity to the people of Kajuru.” The group noted.
They added that “It is in this light also that we solicit the support of all well meaning citizens and eligible voters within the Chikun/ Kajuru constituency to align with this movement for the long overdue change so as to attract job provision.
“Meaningful empowerment in the midst of hunger and poverty presently experienced in the country and general development of the constituency as witnessed in other Federal Constituencies”.
We shall change bad misrepresentation and marginalisation…. We do not subscribe to poorly calculated endorsement
