Legal Aid Council of Nigeria said it treated over one thousand eight hundred and eight five (1,885) cases in it ‘Access to Justice for the poor’ Project in Kaduna between 2012 and 2015.
Mrs JOY Bob-Manuel Kaduna state chapter of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, made this known in a Press briefing on the activities to wind down the project which was inaugurated in 2012.
She said the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria has established 19 Offices in the three senatorial Zones in the state to help the poor people mediate on their behalf, calling on the people to always take advantage of the free legal services to settle minor cases of Court.
She cautioned that the council only entertain civil cases such as matters of land, matrimonial, financial, inheritance and other civil matters.
Joy assured that the activities of the council will not be a threat to the natural responsibility of Religious and traditional rulers whose main vocation is settling people.
She therefore advised people not to be in a hurry to take matters to the police or court but first find solution at the Legal Aid Council.
