Abia Political Impasse: Group Writes CJN, Alleges Financial Inducement For Judicial Officials by Ikpeazu
A Political Pressure group in Abia, Rejoice Campaign Organization For Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah has alleged that Dr. okzie Ikpeazu and his commissioners are giving huge some of money to judges in the state so as to compromise the judgement in the political issues in the state.
The group, said this in a letter to the Chief Justice of the Federation submitted on Monday, July 11, 2016.
They claimed that the initiators of this scheme have held series of meetings with some of the judges, especially the judges in Osisioma and Aba where these judges were thoroughly compromised with huge sums of money and housing gifts and where the judges in turn assured their acolytes of a smooth hatchet work.
The letter reads:
July 11, 2016 The Honourable,
The Chief Justice of Nigeria,
Supreme Court of Nigeria,
Three Arms Zone, Abuja My Lord,
COMPLAINT AGAINST AN OBNOXIOUS DESIGN BY DR OKEZIE IKPEAZU, HIS COMMISSIONERS AND SOME OTHERS TO USE SOME JUDGES OF ABIA STATE JUDICIARY DISHONORABLY TO EMBARRASS DR UCHE OGAH
We are constrained to bring to the attention of Your Lordship, the desperate and despicable design by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and some political jobbers in Abia State to embarrass Dr Uche Ogah using the instrumentality of the Abia State Judiciary.
The substance of the design is to institute multiple suits in different divisions of the High Court of Abia State aimed at disqualifying Dr Uche Ogah, the governor elect of Abia or stating that he is not qualified to contest election to the office of governor of Abia State.
By the scheme of these political renegades, these phantom suits are to be instituted in at least four divisions of the court including Osisioma and Aba by members of the Ikpeazu/TA Orji faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and other persons procured for that purpose.
Though the prospective claimants in the phantom suits shall obviously have no locus standi, not being persons who contested the election in the first place, they will non the less urge the various judges to disqualify Dr Ogah or pronounce that Dr Ogah is otherwise not qualified to contest election to the office of governor of Abia State.
Ordinarily, my Lord, we would not bother your Lordship on a matter of this nature especially as Dr Ogah has a legal team capable of meeting or dispelling the mischief but the utter desperation of these persons since Dr Ogah was declared governor of Abia State leaves much to be desired.
Further, the matter presently as it relates to these specified judges is very crucial to the honour and integrity of the judiciary because the information we have is that the initiators of this scheme have held series of meetings with some of the judges ,especially the judges in Osisioma and Aba where these judges were thoroughly compromised with huge sums of money and housing gifts and where the judges in turn assured their acolytes of a smooth hatchet work.
They agreed to file the multiple suits in the believe that after service of the processes , mistakes may be made in diligent defence to enable judgment to be entered in default. In fact, the decision of the judge in Osisioma to hastily grant a profane, world¬ wide, and outrageous injunction.
