2023: Abia PDP elects new governorship candidate, few days after Ikonne’s demise
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) in Abia State has elected Okey Ahaiwe, as the governorship candidate ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.
His emergence was due to the death of the former Abia state gubernatorial candidate, Uchenna Ikonne, who died on January 25, 2023.
Ahaiwe scored a total number of 469 to defeat, the deputy governor of the state, Ude Oko-chukwu and Lucky Igbokwe who both scored 12 votes each
Ahaiwe is the former Chief of Staff to governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
