200 Shops Brought Down as El-Rufai Resumes Demolition Exercise

Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai on Sunday resumed his demolition exercise with about 200 shop brought down as at time of this report around popular printers village and government Secondary School, Doka in Kaduna North Local government area of the state.

The governor commenced the demolition exercise by August but was stopped due to court order restraining him from continuing with the exercise.‎

Information available to us showed that about 200 shops around the government school on Muri road by Lagos street have already be destroyed.

Some of the shop owners reportedly tried to recover some of their properties from the demolished buildings but some allegedly proved difficult because they were taken by surprise.

According to a shop owners, Ayo said they were served notice in August and today (Sunday) they came to carry out the demolition exercise, saying “though we were allowed to carry out our things before the demolition exercise”, some of them were absent.

It was also gathered that the demolition exercise was carried out on shops around Maiduguri road LEA around Midnight ladies hangout popularly known as Obalende area in Kaduna North Local government area of the state.

It would also be recalled that El-Rufai commenced the exercise in Zaria with demolition of about 90 buildings at the Alhudahuda college area and now continued the exercise in Kaduna metropolis.‎
