 By Alex Uangbaoje, Kaduna

Following rising tension  in various states in the Country, over Operation Python Dance by the Nigerian Military in the South Eastern part of the country, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has called for calm among different groups.

JNI, equally said she has ordered all Imams in various Mosques in the country to emphasize on messages of peace and calmness at Jumat and to ensure that none of their followers resulted to reprisal.

Recall that a video of attacks and search by some miscreants in the South East searching for Northerners in passing vehicles in Aba was viral on the social media on Thursday, which has since created pandemonium across the country.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna on Friday, Secretary General of JNI, Dr. Khalid Abubakar, noted that the action of Igbos killing Northerners and burning up Mosques is not palatable, but called for restraint.

“Our country is passing through very painful trying times of agitations and counter-agitations, which has led to disturbing the peace of this country.

“JNI, is calling for peace, calling for the calmness if nerves, calling for restraint, calling for all to allow dialogue to really lead whatever complains and needs there are within the political domain of this country.

“Taking laws into the hands really, will not yield anything, if for anything, it will only escalate the already tensed situation in this country. We really want to use this medium to ask all to put the chips down and not to go for reprisal.” Dr. Khalid, added.

He said, no Nigerian is more Nigerian than the other, saying “needles for any Nigerian to think that he is more Nigerian than the others and that he deserves more right than others, and that we are bound by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and you can make a claim but through peaceful means.

“Through the political and channels of democracy we would be able to things the way they are supposed to be. And as leaders here,  we are talking to the youths and we hope that there in the East, they should do same.
