UNICEF commends Niger Govt. for establishment of child right protection

Agency Report

The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), has commended Niger Government for establishing a Child Right Protection Agency to protect the right of children in the state.

Utpal Moitra, UNICEF Chief of Field Office in Kaduna gave the commendation during the Annual Review of 2016 of Niger Work Plan in Kaduna on Friday.

Moitra said that the agency would serve as advocacy voice for protection of children in the state and help them to meet their basic needs and reach their potential.

According to him, the establishment of the agency will go a long way to enhance children protection against violence that causes physical and emotional harm to the growth and development of the child.

He said that UNICEF would assist Niger government by linking it with Federal Government to receive support from its country office to develop the agency.

“We commend Niger for being the first state in the North central to establish a Child Right Agency.

“UNICEF will give it maximum support to accelerate the realisation of children’s right in the state.
