Unemployment: KDSG Trains 2,500 Youths in Bee Farming

As part of measure to  create employment for youths in Kaduna state, the
Government said it is sponsoring two thousand five hundred (2,500) youth in Bee farming.

The Commissioner
for Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Manzo Daniel Maigari made this known‎ while speaking to journalists during his ministry’s monthly media briefing in Kaduna.

The Commissioner also disclosed that a contract has been signed with a
private firm to train the youth in the apiculture business.  

The ‎company will also produce enough bees for the youth and the project is
to be financed from a zero interest rate of N2billion loan secured by
the State from Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN).‎

Dr. Maigari added that 250 forest guards and rangers are now in the
employment of the state government to monitor the forest resources of
the state and control all sharp practices.

The forest rangers are ‎also to be supported with 20 Hilux vehicles to ease their movement and ‎ensure proper monitoring of state forestry.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the State Government has
approved the establishment of school farms in some secondary schools
across the state.  According to him, the pilot farming project will ‎concentrate on 3 schools from 3 Senatorial Zones of the state.

He said the aim of the project is to reawaken farming interest in the
youth who sees business of farming as belonging to the aged.  He said
these farms when in full operations will produce materials for the ‎school consumption and at the same time earning revenue for the ‎schools.‎
