TLF Takes‎ World Girl Child Day   Campaign to Grassroot

As part of event to mark the International Day for the Girl Child, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Tamar Love Foundation (TLF) on Tuesday organised a campaign for the education of the girl child to the grassroot by providing schools with books and uniform.

President of TLF, Mrs. Tessy Dibal said global statistic has shown that the girl child is at a disadvantage educationally with Africa having the worst scenario.

As a result, there is the need to come to the rescue of the girl child by empowering her with basic education which prepares her for a better life she stressed.

Flagging off a walk campaign to mark the day in Kachia, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mrs Dibal said her Foundation decided to go down to the rural area and the grassroot because girls there are more vulnerable due to poor enlightment, poverty and early marriage among others.

TLF she stressed wants to be the voice of the voiceless  girl child by aiding them with educational instructional material, uniform to take the responsibility off the shoulders oof the parents.

She said with education, the girl child stands empowered, add more value to input, more creative and add to human resource.

Dibal urged parents, government, the larger society, NGOs, religious bodies and well to do individuals to take up responsibility of shouldering the responsibility of educating children.

Flagging off the Walk campaign, Interim committee Chairman of Kachia Local Government Honourable Umar Buniyaminu Sani stressed that no parent in Kaduna have any reason not to send their children to school as basic education is free.

Represented by the Vice Chairman, Sani assured of the council’s preparedness to do all within its strenght to ensure all school age children are enrolled and sustained.

The campaign saw a walk by girls and TLF members round Kachia with placards bearing inscriptions such as “stop girl child abuse” “I am a girl child protect me” “I am a girl child and I have voice” “every girl child counts” among others. The campaign ended with public lecture on the importance of educating the girl child.‎
