Police Nabs 42yrs Old Man Who Allegedly defiled His Brother’s 13yrs Old Daughter in Abia

Abia State Police Command has arrested a 42 year man one Mr Okwubunka Nwosueke, a School Proprietor who allegedly defiled his brother’s 13 years old daughter on 18th June,2020 at Umuiye Umumba Nsirimo In Umuahia South Local Government area of Abia State. The Abia State Command Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, SP Goeferry Ogbonna disclosed this to newsmen in Umuahia.

He added that it is good that the suspect is in Police custody and the matter will be properly investigated and if found guity will be prosecuted according to the law.

Reacting on what prompted the arrest of the mother of the underaged and one other by the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia by police, Abia PPRO explained that the command arrested the mother of the embattled minor, Mrs Daberechi Nwosueke and Uchetorouba Irom based on petition written by the suspect who felt his reputation was at stake based on news of the incident circulated on the social media.

He revealed that the matter has been looked into and the mother of the defiled minor and the other arrested have been released.

He however warned on the abuse of the social media by people to pass judgement on others stressing that only true and investigated stories should be circulated on the social media. He called on the citizenry to have confidence in the Nigerian Police.

Recalled that one Miss Oluchi Nwosueke,a 13 year girl was allegedly defiled by the younger brother to her father on the 18th June, 2020 and that when the said man was summoned by the community and confronted with the allegation, though he denied it but ran away only to resurfaced after some weeks to arrest the mother of the girl and one other person.

Speaking to newsmen over this ugly development,One of the community leaders and a renowned Politician in the state, Chief Michael Irom who condemned the alleged irresponsible behaviour from Mr Okwubunka Nwosueke told Journalists that when the community received the news they reported the matter to Ubakala Divisional Police Station in Umuahia South LGA, where the defiled minor was examined by a female police officer who established a case of a defilement. The girl was then taken to a hospital at Aba road Umuahia for treatment.

Chief Irom pointed out tha the community invited the alleged man who defiled his Elder brother’s daughter considered as an abomination of highest order in the community to give account of his own side of the story which he the ( accuser) denied and but however later turned to threatened everybody who dares bring up the matter.

He lamented that before the arrival of the police to effect an arrest the suspect,he ran away from the community , adding that to their greatest surprise, the alleged Suspect said to be on the watchlist of Ubakala Divisional Police Station emerged from the blues in the early morning of 22nd of July 2020 around 5am with a team of police from Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia to arrest Mrs Daberechi Nwosueke, the mother of the defiled girl and his personal Assistant Uchetorouba Irom.

He said the community was in disbelief over the arrest and demanded to know how a traumatised woman who was looking for justice for her defiled daughter could be seen in the compound that morning the suspect with police to effect an arrest on her.

Chief Irom disclosed that the youths of the community in anger quickly mobilised and lay surveillance for Okwubunka and after a thorough search the suspect was found and handed over to the police at Ubakala station.

The community leader therefore called for justice for the detained mother of the defiled victim, noting that the suspect’s aim is to intimidate and shut the woman up.

On his part, the father of the defiled girl, Mr Mathew Nwosueke said he got information about the ugly incident at about 10pm on the said date at Aba where he resides, but travelled home the next day where he asked his younger brother he denied the allegation only to turned back to threatened the entire family if they continue to accuse him of the subject matter.

“My brother was summoned at different times by the family and community,but he denied that he committed indecent act, was furious about it, he will end up threatening everybody with diabolical means”

Nwosueke,the father of the minor further said tha on 22nd July after a month of the incident, he received a call that his wife had been arrested by the police and he returned home to know the reason his brother who is on the run should come back with police to arrest his wife.
