Orphans, Widows Admonishes Unicef for Donating N500,000 Food Items, Kaduna

Founder of Adonai Orphanage Home and Widows Center Kaduna, Evan. Elizabeth Afuwape has strongly admonished Unicef Field Office, Kaduna Staff Association for organising end of the year cerebration for orphans and donating #500,000 worth of food items to the Center.

Speaking while receiving the food items at the Center on weekend, Evan. Elizabeth  Afuwape commended Unicef  for their continuous support to the center for the benefit of the orphans and widows.  

‎ Evan. Elizabeth disclosed that the 830 widows so far registered with the center for assistance have been benefiting from the Unicef support, appealing to spirited Nigerians to extend their riches to the center to help the orphans and widows in making their lives useful to the larger society.

Presenting the items, the Chief of field office  UNICEF Kaduna Mr. Utpal  Moitra said the food items donated by the UNICEF staff members in Kaduna was a demonstration of an effort to support and give some relief to the children in the orphanage home. 

He also stressed the need to identify with the difficult situation of orphans which calls for a collective intervention to improve the quality of lives of such children and to attract others to consider support children in difficult circumstances wherever they are.

Mr. Moitra also stated that UNICEF programme support for Children include Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Children and HIV, Health, Nutrition, Education among others, being implemented in collaboration with government to ensure healthy growth and development of children.

During the occasion, career and orientation discussions for the children on the importance for every child to concentrate in learning and aspire to achieve a self-positive ambition and imbibe the culture of heathy life and HIV preventive measures, as well as the need for proper hand washing especially at the stipulated critical times were presented by Dr. Amina Mohammed, Idris Baba and other UNICEF staff members who attended the occasion.

Musical performance entertainment, buffet launch and heavy refreshment for orphans and guests were treated at the event that lasted for four hours.

Items donated to the orphanage center by UNICEF include bags of Rice and beans, cartons of milk, Sachets Millo and other beverages including sugar and gallons of cooking oil worth hundreds of thousands Naira.

‎Founder of the center Elizabeth commended Unicef effort for the continuous support in areas of foods health and other essential of life to orphans at the center.

Elizabeth who appreciated UNICEF Kaduna Field Office Staff Association, for organizing the 2015 end of the year cerebration for center under project “Caring For Us (CFU) Initiative”, said the center would continue to contend with children of various difficulties and challenges as it were over several years, and would continue with the gesture for the betterment of humanity.

The Center currently nurturing 54 orphans was established since 2,000, with a long history of nurturing children who are orphans and rejected widows alike.

Earlier, the UNICEF staff Association were in Jamiyar Matar Arewa orphanage home where they also donated food items to the orphans to provide some succour to these crop of children in need of help.‎
