Emir of Gwandu Coronates Mallam Muhammadu Bello as 5th District Head Of Koko

The Emir of Gwandu Major General Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar has turbaned Mallam Muhammadu Bello Koko as the 5th District Head of Koko at a colourful ceremony held recently at the Abdullahi Fodio palace in Birnin Kebbi, kebbi state.

In his address at the ceremony, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar congratulated the appointee for his well-deserved appointment which he said was based on merit and hard work. He enjoined all district and village heads in the emirate to assist security agencies in their domains and monitor unusual movement of unscrupulous elements.

The Emir advised the youth to shun all forms of social vices but engage in useful ventures and the pursuit of knowledge. He told parents and guardians to strictly monitor the activities of their wards and children to ensure proper upbringing.

Iliyasu Bashar urged the public to embark on prayers for God’s protection of leaders and followership as well as avoid castigating leaders, he commended media practitioners for their positive contribution to the development of the country and urged them to avoid negative reportage including hate speech capable of fanning the ember of disunity in the country.

In a vote of thanks, the newly crowned District Head of Koko, Mal. Muhammadu Bello koko thanked Governor Bagudu and the Emir of Gwandu for giving him the opportunity to serve the people through his appointment as District Head.

The new District Head Mallam Muhammad Bello Salihu Koko, is the eldest son of Mallam Salihu and grandson to the first district head of Koko, Mallam Musa son of Muhammadu Dan Gindi. Born in 1939, he obtained his qur’nic and elementary education in Koko before he proceeded to middle school Sokoto and graduated in 1953. He attended theTeachers Training College Ilorin (HTTC) between 1954 and 1957 where he obtained Grade ll certificate.

He enrolled into the Advance Teacher College Zaria in 1963 where he obtained National Certificate in Education in 1965 as one of the pioneer student of the program in Nigeria. Similarly in 1969, he proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he read Administrative Management.

Mallam Muhammadu Bello worked at different capacity as Head master of Koko Salihu Primary School in 1966, Principal of Day Senior Secondary School, Birnin Kebbi, the first Educational Officer in Gwandu emirate in 1967, Ministry of Agriculture in 1973, Touring Officer Ministry of Animal Health and Forest Resources in 1975, the first Secretary Ministry of Trade and Industry in charge of payment in 1976, and personnel Manager Sokoto State Water Board in 1977.

He also attended so many courses that include Leadership and Citizenship in Jos, Educational Administrative course in Zaria etc.

He was elected to represent his constituency at the State House of Assembly in 1983. With the military coup of 1983, Mallam Bello returned to his carrier where he worked in Birnin Kebbi Polytechnic in 1984, Director (FASCO) Sokoto in 1985.

Mallam Muhammad Bello was until his appointment the Sarkin Sudan of Lani and was coroneted as ‎the fifth (5th) district head of Koko by the emir of Gwandu. A colourful durba was held in his honour at koko salihu model Primary school.
