By Alex Uangbaoje, Kaduna

Peace may not return to Southern part of Kaduna State soon, this is as Muslim leaders in the state are calling for the arrest and prosecution of both the political and religious leaders in the area who have severally called on their people to protect themselves in the absence of government’s help in a crisis that has claimed over 800 lives, according to Christians Association of Nigeria’s (CAN), report.

The Muslim leaders also called for the immediate arrest of the National President of CAN, Dr. Samson Olasopu Olasopu, and the Secretary General of the association Rev. Dr. Musa Asake for what they called reckless statements, which according to them instigated the crisis.

The group under the auspices of Council of IMAMS and ULAMA in Kaduna State at a press conference on the state of affairs in Southern Kaduna on Monday added that failure of the previous governments to prosecute defaulters of previous Tribunal, Judicial Commission and whitepapper on the report of Federal government Investigation Panel in the state, like that of General Zamani Lekwot (Rtd), after Justice Okadigbo’s Tribunal of 1992 on Zango Kataf crisis led to subsequent crisis in the state.

According to the Secretary General of the group Aminu Ibrahim, who addressed the media in English in front of all their members, “these few cases and others drew the attention of the Council to call on the government to arrest and prosecute persons who made inflammatory statements that instigated the crises.

“These include; Reverend Zachariah Gado-Chairman 19 DCC Fellowship, Dr Samson Olasopu Ayokunle-the President Christians Association of Nigeria and the Secretary General, Rev Dr Musa Asake, Senator Danjuma La’ah-Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone.

Others are; “Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung-Member representing Zongon KatafjJaba Federal  Constituency, Barrister Solomon Musa, SOKAPU President and all his executive members, Dr John Danfulani and any person found involved.”

He added, “the Council is in support of the Federal and Kaduna State Government in taking any measures legally to deal with any individual or group of persons without fear or favour with the intention of causing further disturbances or breach of peace in order to have a lasting peace in the state.

“Finally, the Council wishes to commend the sense of maturity exhibited by the Governor of Kaduna State Mal. Nasiru Ahmad EI-Rufa’i and all the members of Security Council for not responding to the provocation and molestation by some misguided and irresponsible women and youths of southern Kaduna enclave.

“The Council is once again calling on all Imams and Ulama to pray for a permanent peace and economic prosperity in Kaduna State and the Country in general”.
