AMDF Release 3 Finalists for Journalists of the Year Award

The Panel of Judges for the 2019 AMDF Journalist of the Year Award, led by Mr. Joseph Edegbo, Managing Editor of Africa Prime News has named 3 finalists for this year’s award. They are: Adie Vanessa Offiong of the Daily Trust Newspapers; Banjo Damilola of Sahara Reporters and Oladeinde Olawoyin of the Premium Times.

AMDF in a statement Signed it’s Executive Director, Iliya Kure, added that honorary Lifetime award for journalistic excellence will be presented to distinguish media veteran – Mr. Akin Jimoh, Project Director of Development Communications Network (DevComs) Lagos; for his immeasurable contribution to promotion of development journalism in Nigeria.

Chairman of the Panel said, “after painstakingly assessing the entries, we can boldly say these 3 finalists have ethically and professionally demonstrated their callings. They have gone beyond shallow work to an issue-based journalism, which brings to fore key development issues and the need for action to address such.

“We look forward to an era where journalists in Africa will understand, and go deep into development journalism, which will have positive impact on the society and the drive towards Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.

The award presentation where the winner, runner-up and commended work will be announced is scheduled to hold at 4pm on 10th December 2019 at Asaa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna, Nigeria, venue of the 3rd Africa Conference on Development Journalism (#ACDJ2019) holding from 10th – 12th December 2019.

ABOUT THE AWARD
AMDF Journalist of the Year Award was first introduced in 2016 to promote the culture of in-depth development journalism in the Nigerian media space.

Africa Conference on Development Journalism (#ACDJ) is an annual gathering of journalists and other media stakeholders introduced to serve as avenue for exchange of ideas that will address current and emerging issues facing Development Journalism. It is also meant to create a community of learning that will support the growth of Development Journalism in Africa.
